The Mystery of Jonbenet Ramsey’s Death
All of the aspects of my third project were combined into one final product. I created a case study about the murder of JonBenet Ramsey.
Social Studies
The Lindbergh Kidnapping
In 1932, Charles Lindbergh’s 20 month old son was abducted from their home in Hopewell, New Jersey. There was a ransom note demanding $50,000. The people who abducted the son of the American aviation hero did not want the family to contact the police or have any media coverage on the issue. After the police were contacted and the case was released to the public, they demanded another $20,000. This connects back to the Jonbenet case, because in the letter the kidnapper demanded $118,000. This shows that both cases have seemingly monitary motives. Charles Lindbergh was the first person to fly alone across the atlantic ocean without stopping, this made him very famous in the aviation world. Patsey Ramsey had a great deal of fame as well considering she was crowned Miss West Virginia in 1977. You can conclude then that fame in the family is also a motive for kidnapping and murder. The Lindbergh’s recieved multiple letters from the kidnappers while still on the search for their missing son, each one reassured them that their son was still alive and was kept on a boat. Then on May 12, 1932 the remains of their two year old son were found a few miles from their house in New Jersey. The police discovered that the kidnapper was Bruno Richard Hauptmann. His case wasn’t even tried, and if it would have been, he would have only been charged with a misdemeanor. Since the case was so public, this angered many people because they could not understand why Hauptmann was not charged for these horrific acts. After this outrage, the Lindbergh Law was passed. The Lindbergh Law made kidnapping a federal offense when the child is taken across state lines.

Art
For art I made a case board and collaged the suspects and connecting the information for each one on the board. I focused on monetary, family and outside of family motives. I showed reasoning by arranging the board from most guilty to least guilty. I used my research to make my conclusion of who had the most incriminating evidence.
English
For the English portion of my project I wrote descriptions about the suspects and the incriminating evidence that connects them to the JonBenet Case. I showed reasoning in this by finding information about who has the largest amount of evidence and deciding who is the most guilty based on context clues.
